Toyota, our favorite Japanese, or should we say global, automaker, is currently preparing to increase its reach into South Africa through its Indian Subsidiary, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM). Dedicated to keeping you informed on all Toyota developments, both local and international, Rockingham Toyota is excited to share the details with you..
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is looking to export the Toyota Etios and Etios Liva to the South African market. The sedan and hatchback models have been manufactured in India since 1999 at the company's factory in the Bidadi industrial area on the outskirts of Bangalore. This has spelled success for both models in the region so far, so it only makes sense that the export models will be produced there too. Toyota Kirloskar Motor is, however, planning to increase the operating capacity of these plants from 160,000 units per year to 310,000.
In an official statement, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, "The export model of Etios will be built on the same platform as Etios and Etios Liva, manufactured and sold in India."1 They went on to say that there will be some minor technical changes made in regards to the local requirements for vehicles in the region."We are convinced that the Etios will be successful in delivering Toyota's promise of quality in South Africa too," Toyota Kirloskar Motor 's Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa said. "Exporting the Etios to South Africa would also mean showcasing the advanced technology and superior quality features that have been developed by Toyota for Etios."2
From overseas models like the Etios and Etios Liva to models found here in the United States, such as the 2012 Toyota Camry, 2011 Toyota Prius, and 2012 Toyota Tacoma, it's clear that Toyota is keeping an eye out for the quality of its vehicles, in every market. Of course, if you'd like to learn more about these, or any other models in our new Toyota inventory, then be sure to arrange a test drive at 354 Main Street Salem, New Hampshire 03079.
